Scholastic Results 2024
An important aspect of learning any artform is getting the confidence to not only show your artwork, but to submit it to art competitions. As a youth, it can be hard to one, have the confidence to do this, but also knowing where to begin to even get your artwork out in public, let alone enter art competitions. I encourage my students to enter the completions we may find, but there is always one that I can count on to be sure to have my students submit their artwork to.
Enter Scholastic! The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the country's longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program for creative students in grades 7-12. This past year, more than 2,000 artworks were submitted by teens across Easter Kansas. 611 of these creative teens received regional honors including: Gold Keys, Silver, Keys, and Honorable Mentions.
Four of Topeka High's talented photographers received honors for this contest this year to be included in the 611 talented artists. Two of these art pieces (Gold & Silver Key) were printed, framed, and then got the honor of being on display for exhibition at the Mart Arts Gallery from February 9th to March 23rd.
No matter the honor, just being able to say you were an award winner in Scholastic is a major achievement! I am very proud of these students for not only taking a chance on their artwork, but being able to see the rewards that come with their hard work and taking a chance on not only their artwork, but on themselves.
Here are all the photos that received honors, please enjoy!
